Program Overview
The Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health - Dental Assisting Option is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills for all areas of the modern dental office, including the dental operatory, laboratory and the business office. Upon successful progam completion, students are eligible to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board certification and to apply for registration with the Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.
Degree Requirements
-This degree requires successful completion of 62-66 credit hours
-A minimum 2.00 cumulative grade-point average is required for graduation.
-In general, you must have a grade of “C” or better to transfer courses to a four-year institution.
-Please note: additional courses may be required if minimum placement test requirements are not met.
-The Dental Assisting Program requires you must have a grade of “C” or better to continue in the program.
-Satisfaction of all financial obligations due to the college is required for graduation.

The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements. Students are selected through a formal acceptance process. A separate Dental Assisting application is required. Student must be 18 years old, with a high school diploma or GED, and have completed all required prerequisite courses in order to start the Dental Assisting Program.
This Program is offered on the Main Campus in North Little Rock.
