Aviation Maintenance, AAS

The Aviation Maintenance Technology program provides students with instruction in the general power plant and airframe curricula. Students may choose to seek Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification as an aircraft maintenance technician with an airframe rating and/or a power plant rating by completing the certificate curricula, or they may choose to complete the Associate of Applied Science in order to acquire additional education to advance into supervisory and inspection positions in the industry. The Aviation Maintenance Technology program is accredited by the FAA as an approved Part 147 Maintenance School.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop the technical skills expected of a beginning licensed mechanic for the repair, inspection and overhaul of aircraft powerplants, including their electrical components, propellers, ignition systems, lubrication systems, fuel systems, and exhaust systems
  2. Meet the required technical knowledge for a Mechanics’ Airframe and Powerplant certification, required by Federal Aviation Regulation, Part 65.
  3. Develop core skills in general education in reading, writing, mathematics, and science reasoning necessary for employment in the aviation maintenance industry.
