HVAC 11044 - Principles of HVACR I


Credit Hours: 4

A study of the mechanical refrigeration system and accessories, the fundamental temperature/pressure relationship of refrigerants, and the required protocols that will lead to an environmentally friendly workplace. The class includes the study of basic tools that are required to meet all federally mandated environmental regulations along with the maintenance, set up, and usage of these powered and non-powered tools. General safety equipment and procedures will be covered to protect from workplace hazards. Students will begin a comprehensive study of the electrical systems in a mechanical refrigeration system with emphasis on the theory behind the electrical systems. Emphasis will be placed on safety, codes, and ordinances. Includes temperature pressure computations and related problems, control adjustments, efficiency checks, and a review of safety and environmental impacts.
