The Certificate of Proficiency in Nursing Assistant is offered to meet industry demand. The program focuses on safe and effective student performance in a health-care setting. Emphasis is placed on specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the Nursing Assistant duties as well as concepts pertaining to the psychosocial aspects of care giving. Participants engage in classroom theory hours related to the care of the patient, skills lab hours practicing specific skills of bed making, patient bathing, hygiene techniques, body mechanics, etc, and clinical hours in a long-term care setting providing hands-on care to the residents. Graduates are eligible to take the practical and computerized examinations that lead to Arkansas State Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA). This program is approved by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education and the Office of Long-Term Care. This program of study includes special program fees beyond current tuition and college fees.

Degree Requirements
-This certificate requires successful completion of 7 credit hours.
-A minimum 2.00 cumulative grade-point average required for graduation.
-Satisfaction of all financial obligations due to the college is required for graduation.
